036 – The Obligatory Rock-Paper-Scissors Comic

Now, if he was playing against the mayor…

I’ve seen at least four comics based on Ponies vs. Rock-Paper-Scissors. It seems to be a popular-ish theme; not quite with the same numbers of Luna-in-people’s-dreams or Something-turns-into-an-orange, but… it gets around is what I’m saying. I’m not bravely exploring a vast untouched wilderness of comedy with this one.

And some day, if I work hard enough, I can join the valiant profession of farming them!

Honestly, there isn’t much going on to talk about here. Still no iTunes release of Equestria Girls. As one commenter pointed out, the Japanese dub didn’t dub the Winter Wrap Up song, so that took a lot of steam out of my whole mission to watch it Japanese. I could scream at the top of my lungs about comic writers and artists who put ponies in things where having ponies adds nothing. But nah. How about we do this instead:

GX Presents a Horse Power Review of the Funrise 20” Fluttershy Plush!!

That’s right, I’m getting all H4 up in here. Opening and closing tags. That’s how intense this is.

Yeah, the plush is good. I like it.

I got it with a Toys’R’Us coupon a few weeks back, so it was only $25 or something. The first thing that struck me was how big 20” actually means. The added size combined with the firmer stuffing from the newer Funrise designs makes for more satisfying hugs for adult-sized humans. She’s just under the height of my knees, so it’s something that a kindergartener could actually pretend to ride. Though not a 27-year-old, 5’ 9” kindergartener. No, definitely not that.

I was apprehensive about getting the 20” line because the angle or model shown in officially released pictures made the eyes and mark look smaller than the proportionality aught to, but in person, they look fine, and just as adorable as the 10” ones.

If you don’t like the design of the Funrise line to begin with, it’s not going to change your mind. The hair is still that stringy style emulating the smaller brushables, and for some reason, Fluttershy’s inner ears and feet are pink, but if you can look past that, or in my case, find it charming, then they’re worth getting on sale, or as a gift for a child/friend/significant other/webcomic writer in your life.

Tune in next week when I review the Twilight Sparkle Sing Along Karaoke microphone in a similarly unsettling tone!
